"The Catherine McAuley Center (CMC), founded by
the Sisters
of Mercy, promotes the well-being and dignity
of individuals in need by providing basic education
for adults and a transitional housing program for women."
Our Mission
We are dedicated to carrying on Catherine McAuley's mission by showing
compassion and concern for the people of our community.
The Center opened in July 1989 by the Sisters of Mercy and friends to address an
unmet need in the community: education tutoring for women. Within a few months the transitional housing program for unaccompanied women
was added to serve another community need.
The adult education program soon began to serve men and women.
The Center fills two vital needs in the community. There
continues to be a growing number of adults coming to the
Center for adult education. The Transitional Housing Program
serves a critical population of homeless women needing
professional services to become self sustaining members of
the community.
